On Tuesday, April 10, shots were fired at the parking lot of Windham Heights housing complex. Police arrived to the scene at around 8 a.m., and no injuries were reported.
As a precaution during the investigation, Windham schools were placed under a shelter in place lockdown, which was lifted at 9:40 a.m. No alerts were made to Eastern Connecticut State University.

One resident of Windham Heights, Willie, told Fox 61 that the incident was “a little bit scary, they could’ve ran inside the house, they could’ve kicked down the door, take someone hostage, you never know, things happen.”
The suspect, 25-year-old Brandon Michael Jones of Norwich, was found and arrested at Red Roof Inn in New London, according to WFSB News. Jones had fired the gun, which he possessed unlawfully, at a man during an argument at Windham Heights.
Jones has been charged with first-degree threatening, illegal discharge of a firearm, second-degree breach of peace, criminal possession of a firearm, and first-degree reckless endangerment, according to Connecticut State Police, and has been placed on a $200,000 bond.
