Makeup Review: BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer

The moment I no longer had any concealer inside my Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage bottle, I died inside. It was devastating for me because I live by it. I use this concealer when I decide to either do a more natural or full-on face makeup look. Although many people recommend the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filter Instant Retouch concealer, NARS Radiant Creamy concealer, Magic Away concealer by Charlotte Tilbury, and many others, I have always stuck with my Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless concealer. When I ran out, I had to pay Sephora a little visit.

Immediately when I entered Sephora I was greeted by the workers. My sister and I went straight to the Urban Decay section. Before I could even grab my concealer, one of the workers offered his assistance by asking me if he could help me with anything. I told him I appreciated it, but that I was fine. Then, he replied, “Are you sure? Have you tried the BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting concealer?” I told him I hadn’t, so he took me to the BECCA section in the store to show me the product.

The job of a concealer is to hide dark circles, age spots, large pores, and other small blemishes visible on the skin. As a girl who drinks a good amount of water and gets a lot of sleep, I don’t have dark circles. However, I have small blemishes that are visible on my naked skin. This is why I need a good concealer to hide them. One of the reasons why I gravitated towards the Urban Decay concealer was because of how many people were saying that it was weightless. The Sephora employee assured me that the BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting concealer was even better than the Urban Decay one. We spent a couple of minutes looking for the right color to match my skin and since I assumed that he knew what he was talking about I decided to give it a try.

After my purchase, I was very excited to try it out. Nonetheless, I ended up not being a big fan of it. First, after having the concealer on my face for a day, it felt quite heavy. This was a big disappointment because it is meant to feel like you have nothing on your skin. Secondly, my small blemishes were still visible. I also disliked the brush shape because it’s thick on the bottom. I had imagined it would be able to hold a decent amount of product, but it didn’t. Finally, for $32 I would have expected there would be more product inside the bottle.

In conclusion, I will not be purchasing the BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting concealer again. If I could rate it out of five stars, I would give it two stars. I expected more from it. It failed to give me the coverage I needed. It failed to complete the job that concealer is meant to. The one concealer I will buy again is my handy dandy Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage concealer. It has never failed me.
